The International Piloting School is making its first steps with a weekend dedicated to the motornautics for young people.
Roberto Buonomo, offshore winner and President of the International Piloting School, transmits his passion for motornautics to the kids.
On July 28th and 29th, Offshore Costruzioni Nautiche is organizing some motornautic courses for children in the Molo Sanità, Gaeta.
The event, called "XX – Twenty years of Challenges" forsees two days of motornautic courses for kids from 8 to 16 years old, organized by the Super Classic Racing, afiliated F.I.M. (Italian federation of Motornautic) and CASM (Center for Motornautic Sports Beginnners) center, which will let its RIB (raft with overboard engines) to train young pilots, and so introducing one of the classical disiplines of the Federation, Formula Future.
Roberto Buonomo, President of the firm Offshore Costruzioni Nautiche and designer of the shipyard boats, is the promotor of the event – with the collaboration of Selex Communications Spa- Finmeccanica, partner of the firm in projecting the Elettra Commander naval units, professional platform for interception and survellaince, which comes from the Record breaker boat. Elettra Commander is the naval unit projected especially to be used at the highest speeds, with great manoeuvering qualities even with rough sea conditions. It is unique in the world, thanks mainly to its versatility of use and operating capacities, it has called the attention of many foreign governments, which normally send delegations to the Offshore Costruzioni Nautiche factory to test the perfomances and guarantee the acquisition of these incredible naval units. The School looks after the Commander project as well, since it will prepare the personnel to the use of Elettra Commander in the sea and at high speed.
Buonomo is not a beginner when it comes to Motornautic activities. As the head of the Super Classic Racing Team and on board of the Super Classic 40 he has been the winner of five world cups, a European title, two Offshore Italian Championships, as well as the British International Harmsworth Trophy, the historical Cowes – Tourquay – Cowes and the World Speed Record.
This sports and technological experience gives birth to the International Piloting School, inaugurated last year with a splendid, and the intervention of the prestigious Cattedra di Medicina del Mare – Università “La Sapienza” di Roma. The International School of Piloting is a real academy dedicated to the speed, oriented to preparation not only for sports but also for professional drivers, who belong to special entities or police on board of high perfomance boats – particularly the Elettra Commander.
The 20th year of activity of the firm was the best occasion to inaugurate the activities of the International Piloting School and, is there a better way of doing it but involving the children? In fact, Buonomo wishes to bring the kids closet to motornautics and spread on the territory the interest for the élite sports, with the colaboration of other world winners, such as Andrea Ratti, and European winners such as Anna Rita Spinosa.
Very soon in fact, in Gaeta it will be possible to registrate for the courses organized by the Super Classic Racing for the 7 traditional categories of the F.I.M: Circuit, Offshore, Water bike, Endurance, Pleasure craft, Radiocontrolled and Teens, to learn to love Motornautic and partecipate in federal competitions. For example, in Praga (Czech Republic) where, during the Motornautic European Teen Championship dedicated to pilots from 8 to 18 years old, Italy got a bronze medal in the Formula Future. The title went to the Czech Republic, the host of the competition; Silver for the German team; it was a good result for the Italians of the Formula Future, considering they had little experience. The competitions involved 34 young pilots, male and female from 5 Nations (Italy, Germany, Slovakia, Czech Rep. and Russia).
Buonomo is making a big effort to make this new discipline popular within the kids of Gaeta, who are born in contact with the sea, and transmit his own passion to the new generations, with the wish that this new young Team, can eventually aim for the World Championship, as he did. He doesn’t exclude the possibility that, one day these kids can become a part of the organization of the International Piloting School, maybe instructors prepared to train special services, on bard of the Commander range units.
In order to partecipate to the free tests on board of the RIBs on July 28th and 29th, the kids will have to be able to swim, have a declaration of exemption of responsibilities signed by their parents, wear appropriate sports clothes such as rubber shoes and the safety equipment (helmet and life-belt) offered by the International Piloting School.
Saturday will be dedicated entirely to the training o f the young pilots.
On Sunday, the pilots of the Porsche Club Lazio will cheer Gaeta with a Porsche Parade, delighting everyone with the elegant touch of the Porsche cars, and then the music of DJ Enrico Santamaria will accompany the extraordinary party for the “twenty years of challenges” of the Offshore!
During the event it will be possibile to admire the splendid Super Classic outstanding boats, between them ta real diamone, the Super Classic 40: a jewel of the nautical sector, exported in the whole world (from the United States to Spain, from the Cote Azur to Norway, up to Kuwait and Brasil, just to list some of them).
